Sneak Peek at Next Season’s Trends in Home Decor – Part II

Friday, August 13th, 2010

If you haven’t read Part I of this series, please visit my last blog post to catch you up on my latest trip to the Las Vegas Furniture Market.  Barbara, my office manager, and I had a fabulous time scouring hundreds of showrooms scouting out the latest and greatest new trends in home decor.

We were happy to see that one of our favorite lines was back again.  They produce a line of preserved botanicals.  These are  real plants and florals that have been preserved through a special process that maintains their colors and textures.  They are perfect for adding color and bringing the outdoors in without using artificial plants or live flowers and plants which are more  difficult to maintain.

Preserved Botanicals

The colors are yummy and they also smell wonderful.  Let me know if you’d like to order some for your home.

Another fun find is a whimsical and colorful  line of lamps made from cocoa, banyan, and allibangbang leaves.  All of their products are ecco-friendly.  I love their innovative designs, especially the gecko sconces, which can be hard-wired to your wall.

These uniquely beautiful lamps come in a variety of styles.  Let me know if you’re interested in adding some to your home.

We saw lots of fresh, new home design trends and innovations, and I look forward to making them accessible to you through the new shopping link on our website which will be coming very soon.  In the meantime, we’re here to help you create the home that feels like the best place you want to be.  You may not like some of the new trends, and that’s okay.  I’m here to help you to create a home that reflects your lifestyle, your passions, and your personal taste.  No project is too small, so drop me a line and let me know what you have in mind.

Sneak Peek at Next Season’s Trends in Home Decor – Direct From the Las Vegas Furniture Market

Friday, August 6th, 2010

My office manager, Barbara, and I had a fantastic time checking out everything new and exciting at the Las Vegas World Market Center earlier this week.  There are 5.1 million square feet of showrooms located throughout three inter-connected buildings, and our feet felt like we walked every bit of it!  From unique furniture styles to plush area rugs to fabulous lighting to eye-catching decorative accessories, there was so much to take in.  We kept coming across innovative designs and applications that will appeal to the most distinctly different tastes.  We found dozens of stylistic interpretations that our clients will absolutely love.  I’m looking forward to incorporating many of the inspirations I uncovered there into my upcoming projects.

Here are some of my favorite discoveries -

This showroom is one of my favorites.  They have amazing lamps and wonderful accessories  – very fresh and lovely.  We saw lots of greens, from lime to kelly and everything in between.  Lots of bright colors were evident everywhere – greens, yellows, blues (especially turquoise), and lots of orange and reds.

This is another favorite showroom.  Every market they highlight a color or two that they expect to be very popular.  Obviously this year they’re expecting turquoise and orange to be favorites.  Another area of their showroom highlighted lime green.

Barbara and I both love these hand blown glass floral vases.  They can also be used as napkin rings.  Available in a variety of luscious colors, they’re sure to brighten up any home.

I’ll share more of our findings soon.  Until then keep in mind that we’re here to help you create the home that feels like the best place you want to be.  And keep in mind that you may not like the new trends, and that’s okay.  Your home should reflect your lifestyle, your passions, and your personal taste.
