Recently I returned from a quick trip to the Las Vegas Home Furnishing World Market. This market is held in three permanent buildings that include five million square feet of showroom space. It’s a little overwhelming since there’s so much to see, but I always enjoy the challenge of visiting as many showrooms as possible. It’s always exciting to see what’s new in colors and trends. Below is the building that contains many of my favorite showrooms.
Seen at this market was the continued trend towards the use of bold color in home decor. The most fashionable colors from the January market were very prominent again at this market. Orange continues to be a very popular color in home decor, especially in accessories.
In addition to orange I also saw lots of burnt orange and burnt red. These warm colors are also showing up in the newer fabrics.
Blue-greens of all shades continue to be fashionable – from teal to turquoise, aqua to aquamarine – and everything in between. These sea shades are beautiful and work extremely well with various shades of orange.
Apple green continues to be a very popular color for summer. Yellow and butterscotch are also stylish. Brighten up your decor with a splash of some of these eye-catching colors, or select any other bright color that you love.

The Pantone Color Institute named “Tangerine Tango” the top color of 2012, and this showstopping color is not going away anytime soon. The radiant red-orange is influencing color in a big way, so look for a variety of shades of energetic orange popping up in home decor.
